Freedom Initiative

Freedom Initiative exists to disciple leaders impacted by incarceration to plant churches that transform the world. We provide a discipleship path that takes men and women from imprisoned to empowered church planters.

Our vision is to see revival in our prisons and communities through a church planting movement led by men and women impacted by incarceration, both while they are incarcerated and upon their release.

The Freedom Initiative is a three-year ministry training process that begins two years prior to release. After release, participants will complete a one-year apprenticeship to help transition them into their leadership roles.

We want to develop church planters that are whole in Christ and can lead others out of that wholeness. We have selected training that covers personal and emotional development, theological study, church planting vision and models, hands-on discipleship in a church setting, and practical application through apprenticeship. Below are the areas we focus on with some of the key resources we will use.

Freedom Initiative Training Phases

  1. Candidate: Healing and Discovery Phase (inside prison: 3-6 months)

  2. Student: Trained and Equipped for Ministry (inside prison: 18-21 months)

  3. Apprentice: Empowered to Lead (after release: 12-14 months)

  4. Church Planter (after graduation)

Church Planting

We believe that the local church is key in bringing the freedom and healing found in Jesus Christ to our communities.

Our Freedom Initiative church plants are part of the Christ the Victor Church Network, and we are committed to creating communities where people from all walks of life are welcomed, loved, challenged, and empowered to be the Body of Christ together.

Quindaro Freedom Initiative Center

The Quindaro Freedom Initiative Center will house church planters coming home from prison. It will also be the site of a Freedom Initiative Church plant, where these leaders will complete their church-planting apprenticeship and partner with community leaders to impact youth and families in the neighborhood.
